Inclusive storytelling for elevated entertainment.

Films With A Cause is a multifaceted organization run by Gen Z creatives, dedicated to moving film and television industries towards the meaningful representation of historically marginalized communities, behind and in front of the camera. We deliver consulting services through our in-house equity and inclusion experts to individuals and companies, encouraging ethical storytelling practices for a higher entertainment experience.

Founded in January of 2018 by the emerging award winning filmmaker Yazmeen Kanji, Films With A Cause launched as a student-run volunteer organization. Team members consisted of domestic and international undergraduate students who are passionate about storytelling that moves us to reconsider our actions and thinking patterns. From social media campaigns to public speaking engagements, screenings, documentary production and blog posts, Films With A Cause has been dedicated to uplifting content that prioritizes historically marginalized communities in their local contexts. Based in Toronto, Films With A Cause has amassed a substantial network of international filmmaking talent and has been highlighted by CBC Metro Morning, TIFF Next Wave, the University of Toronto, Ryerson University, Her Campus, Women Advocating for Change, Omni News, Islam Channel and Let the Quran Speak.
